When a customer first asked me, the custom knife maker at GreBec Knives, to craft a Mini-Cleaver, I hesitated. I’d never made or used a cleaver before. But after several prototypes (and a few failed attempts due to bevels, shape, and size), I created a blade that’s as beautiful as it is versatile. Mini-Cleavers are handcrafted from 1095 high carbon steel. The handle material can be any of our many stabilized woods, no two are the same. If the handle is made with a Florida Wood Series selection, as this mini-cleaver is, the knife will feature a Florida logo etched into the blade to celebrate our state’s heritage.
A Mini-Cleaver Knife for Every Adventure
This little cleaver shines across multiple uses. In the kitchen, it slices vegetables, onions, squash, and sausage with ease. This makes it a unique tool for meal prep—imagine pulling it out to slice cheese and sausage for guests! For camping, it handles meal prep, cuts rope, shaves tinder, and pairs with a ferro rod to start fires. It’s also a great hiking companion, trimming branches or gathering wildflowers. All mini-cleaver knives come with a custom leather sheath with a belt clip. Therefore, it’s a standout EDC (Every Day Carry) piece—sharp as a razor and sure to spark conversations. While it’s a bit small for heavy tasks like batoning Red Oak firewood into kindling (it can do it, but it’s not the most comfortable), its compact size makes it perfect for skinning game or processing meat as a hunting knife.
Crafted with Florida Heritage
Each Mini-Cleaver knife comes with a hand-stitched leather sheath, tailored to its unique shape, ensuring both protection and style. Whether you’re a camper, home chef, or collector, the Mini-Cleaver is a handcrafted piece of Florida craftsmanship that blends functionality with artistry.
